There was the first shrine down the road beside the parking lot. Izumo Taisha Sessha ``Nomi Sukune Shrine''. He is the god of both literary and martial arts ☺️. Nomi Sukune no Mikoto is the 13th legitimate grandchild of Amenoho no Himikoto, the ancestor of the chief priests of Izumo Taisha Shrine, and is the 13th Izumo Kokuzō Seisho no Mikoto. According to the Nihon Shoki, Nomi Sukune no Mikoto won a sumo match against a sumo wrestler who was reputed to be the best in the world at the time, and since then, Nomi Sukune no Mikoto has been hailed as the originator of the national sport of sumo wrestling, and today he is widely revered by people who aspire to sumo and other sports☺️. This is called Harae-no-yashiro, and before worshiping the gods, people come here to exorcise and purify themselves of the evil spirits that have come upon them without their knowledge.
